Just ran across a new case (space-saving micro ATX) that looks like it has the CDROM mounted vertically.
Is it just me, or does this work okay?

Hi, I have an IBM (AIX) server that has the CDROM mounted that way and it works fine. Those drives that were designed for that orientation have small "fingers" that can be used to guide the disc until the drawer closes. Once the drawer is closed, the disc is only supported by the center spindle, anyway. This server also has an Exabyte Mammoth tape drive and a floppy drive mounted the same way!

If our experience is any example, it works fine, so if everything else is a fit, go for it!

Off topic (sorta), but had to post it! I saw the subject "Just ran across a new case (space-s"

I couldn't figure it out! You have upper case, lower case, and space case? LOL Guess I'm slow....

Anyway, mradmin is right. Additionally some trays (mostly older models) have swiveling arms that you manually move to hold the CD. I would be willing to put money on the fact that you have seen them and just never gave them a second thought! Mudskipper
