Junk mail on my guest book

I have a site that I have built using dreamweaver mx and it uses a simple guestbook wrote with DWMX, however I have started to get loads of junk postings, you know the kind!

So, I was wondering if there is a procedure / script I could put in place to stop the junk being posted. Also, I would really like to know how to do multiple deltions by using a check box, I know this is posible but can't seem to master how to do this!

you can look into using captcha or some form of validation...even javascript or simple mmath should cut down on some of it produced by spiders and lazy drive-by spammers.

on database side consider additional field eg. "status" with values of 'live' and 'pending' or 0 and 1 or whatever. then before listing your guest entries filter the database for the 'live' status only.
procedure:
- guest enters something with hidden field of status to be 'pending' therefor not visible to public right after the entry
- email is sent to you that there has been an entry
- you manually change/update the status field to now read 'live' and public the comment or guest entry

Multiple deletions w checkboxes will depend on your lang. of choice asp, php etc.

thanks, i am already doing "status" with values of 'live' and 'pending' or 0 and 1 which as you say filters before going live.

I like the idea of the captcha with the form, can this be used direct with dw forms and do you know if there are any dw addons available to assist with this?

I am using .asp so any more help would be gratefully received, thanks in advance
