I have installed a fancy new hard drive and has been working great, but I noticed when my computer starts on the bios screen it has a section that says 32bit and under it, it says off. I think there was a jumper setting that said 32bit. I have no idea what this 32bit setting is, should it be set to on, am I losing any performance with it off. Thanks if anyone could explain what its for B-)

Well, generally speaking the 32bit setting for hard drives is usually handled via BIOS settings and sometimes through manufacturer's config software for hard drives.

The answer simply is yes, you would definitely want 32bit turned on which should in most cases, yield hard drive performance gains.

What brand of hard drive is this that has a jumper on the bottom for 32bit? Would be curious to know.

Cheers!

Sorry that was me being a bit dozy, It was actually a different drive and said 32GB clip, not 32 bit, anyway checked through my bios settings and turned 32bit on. So will I get much difference in performance with that on? I Have a western digital wd400jb with 8mb cache is meant to be good for gaming and streaming video. So far it has been much faster than my last drive.

Yep, sounds like you got it all worked out. I would think that this will work just fine for you and what you want to do.

Cheers!
