Using form fields and protecting the document (in Word 2000), I need to find a way to have an editable section appear as if it's underlined from the far left side of the page to the far right side of the page for multiple lines regardless of how much or how little is typed into that section and without the underline stopping in the middle of the page. The only way I've found so far is to insert a table with multiple rows with the bottom border for each row, but then you have to put a form field on each row when it should be one continuously typed paragraph. Is there another way? Or, is there code that I can insert to make it automatically jump from one form field to the next after the maximum characters for that form field have been reached? Any ideas?

Hi, gricks. With some pretty good VBA help, I have never found a workaround for this. Sorry if it is bad news. I would love for someone to show me that it can be done. Anne Troy

Dreamboat,

I was afraid of that. Thank you for responding and confirming my thought. Maybe someone will suprise us and have an answer, but at least I know now that I'm not simply overlooking something obvious. Thanks again.

Dreamboat,

I think I may have answered my own question. The work around I've come up with that I will propose to my user is this:

For the form field, I formatted it as underlined and justified then protected the document (forms). When someone types a paragraph into the form field, it will spread the paragraph out across the page to fill up the whole line (thus underlining all the way across) until the last line. At the end of the last line, if you press Shift+Enter, it will justify the last line. This looks funny if the last line is really short, but...that's what I came up with.
