I have just installed the J2SDK 1.4.2 and when running TableExample4.java which is part of the download

its one of the example apps under
c:\j2sdk1.4.2\demo\jfc\TableExample\src\TableExample4.java

I was wondering if it was possible to make it so the table fits into size of the frame window correctly as when i run it and enlarge the frame to a greater size there is a large chunk of white space visible, how is it possible to make it so only the table is shown and not the empty space.

When i resize the application window there is this extra grey space that becomes visible. I can't work out how to prevent this from appearing.
 
Just add the next line :

tableView.setAutoResizeMode(JTable.AUTO_RESIZE_ALL_COLUMNS);

[ PS : this will also let the horizontal scrollbar disappear ]
 
Tried adding that line it still shows unwanted gray space when you enlarge the window.
 
Make sure you comment out this line before adding the other line;

tableView.setAutoResizeMode(JTable.AUTO_RESIZE_OFF);

I tried it and it worked.
