If I may interpret for grillhouse *grin*...
JPEGS are not the best format, use TIFs...
You are probably trying to use progressive JPG's which will not work with PM, if you are intent on using JPGs, open the graphic in Photoshop and save as, making sure you un-select "progressive" when you save. However, for best results, use only TIF or EPS graphics in PM. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
