One of my clients has a SBS domain called "domain.local" and a toshiba tecra along with other Dells. The dells add to the domain no problem and can access everything and update group policy.
However the tecra adds to the domain I get a welcome to Domain.local and restart, now she can access the files adn network shares but the domain policies do not copy over a GPUPDATE fails and the update services do not sync. She does not show up in the active directory for computers and there is not a DNS entry for her addition any help?
I have added and restarted and added to a workgroup restarted and changed the computer name and unistalled anything tht might beremotely network related.

Was the software pre-installed? Sometimes the ghost image that PC manufacturers use is a little buggy. Whenever I get a new machine, I immediately reinstall the software.

Check her DNS settings make sure she has the SBS as her first dns entry. Also trying running the network identification wizard to add her to the domain.

well.. if your dns is fine.. i would do a fresh install of XP Pro.. because if it came from the factory there may be some funckie settings on thoes LAPTPS..

Since you didn't mention it, is the Toshiba Laptop running Windows XP Pro?
