Recently we upgraded my media server from 2k to 2003 with BE 9.1. on 8.6, I was able to select all drives or ADIC1 and the next job that was supposed to start, would start on the free drive, however, this is not happening, now that I'm in 9.1. Any ideas? Will I have to set up drive pools?

thanks!

Can you see all your drives in Veritas' interface (Device tab)?

If so, right click on any drive you can't use, there should be a check next to Enabled. If not, select Properties, go to Configuration tab. Enable device for Backup Exec should be checked.

If you can't see all the drives, go to My Computer, right click, select Properties, go to Hardware tab, click on Device Manager. Find Tape Devices and expand that. Are all your drives listed? If not go back to the Hardware tab and click on Hardware Wizard (or go to Control Panel and run Add/Remove Hardware). Once you get to the screen where it searches for existing hardware, it should find your drives.

Thanks Bill, however, I've looked at all these options prior to creating this post. :)

I set up 2 jobs that run at the same time to point to one drive then the other. those worked fine. Then i set the priority of one job higher, and all jobs ran to that one. Prior to that, they both had the same priority of 10. I don't get it. it seems the only way that i can get them to work at the same time is if I select the drives.

But yea, everything you mentioned to do, is set up proper and shows up. I've been everyone on Veritas website. Normally they have been forthcoming in support, but this one has blown my mind.

Does it help that we are using the evaluation version until we recieve our licenses? I know you are supposed to have all options available until you enter a license.

DisasterGirl, If I remember correctly you need an additional licence to use multiple drives.
