Good day

Most of you noticed that when upgrading to Java 1.8 your System Status does not open or does no longer work after a Java upgrade.
I have found a working solution to get you on the latest version of Java and still use the SSA and your other applications that needs Java 1.8 or higher

After a Java upgrade it removes the javaw.exe from the following directory on your computer/server
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
What you need to do is make a copy of the new version that you have installed to the missing directory

New version can be found in the following location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_51\bin\javaw.exe

Copy the javaw.exe and past it in the folder where your system status looks for the file C:\Windows\SysWOW64
Now you have a working SSA using Java 1.8 and the rest of your applications still carry on working that needs the upgraded version

Alternatively create a shortcut with the following values:

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_51\bin\javaw.exe" -jar ssaviewer.jar"
Start in: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\IP Office\System Status\"

Now whenever you update your Java just edit your shortcut (bold part) to match the actual folder :)

I've noticed on 9.1.3 that new admin software installs seem to just work now without any modifications to the system status shortcut.

I had been smiling thinking maybe they were fixing a problem that didn't exist if you just installed the latest SSA for the release (but I'm trying (honest) not to post things that make me look like a grumpy sod).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

If you are using Collaboration server it will require 1.8 and then ssa is toast without this fix

This must be the gazillionth post about the same thing, last one is not even 15 posts down =)

While the tips in post #1 and #2 work, they aren't that great.

1. If you move javaw.exe to syswow32 it won't be updated next time they release a new version which is pretty often.
2. Using the direct path will lock you to that version of Java and you'll need to change it when a new version comes.

9.1.3 uses a .bat file to launch System Status.
Basically executes "start javaw.exe -jar ssaviewer.jar &"

For a more permanent fix (until you upgrade to 9.1.3) regardless of java updates you can point your System Status shortcut to just
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\IP Office\System Status\ssaviewer.jar"
