Hi All,
one of my schools i look after, The japanese teacher has asked me to install japanese to some xp machines so that the students can learn to type and read Japanese.
So i installed the asian languages from the xp cd, added the japanese language in text services and input languages window and tested the system all works well. however when i log in as a student it does not work.opened up the text services and input languages window clicked on the properities of Microsoft IME Standard 2002 and found that the templates are set to ms IME whereas when you are logged in as an administrator it is set to Microsoft IME.
That's the only differance.
Ther students have a mandatory profile on login could that be the cause? should i remove the mandatory profile and reload the language?

Regards
Max

Do you have to change the language as a logged on User basis with temporary administrative privileges? Or create a Default Profile and copy it to all the Users? There are some settings with check boxes as this link infers.

Can you work out what gets changed in the Registry?

nope that did not help. Same problem, if i make the students part of the admin group then it all works fine, as soon as i take them out of that group it stops working again.

Did you experiment with the mandatory profile to see if removing it made any difference?

Is there any difference between Microsoft IME and MS IME?

You might get a quicker solution from contacting Microsoft Support?

Hi linney,
thanks for the help so far. I have go through step by step the install of the language. as per that guide you sent ( already had a guide same as that) Set up the language as an admin and as the student user. Just seems that the IME is not installing for the student user. I have opened the Mandatory profiles but the same problem. It has to be a permissions problem somewhere within the system just got me stuffed where. Gone over the Group Policy, even created a new user in a different OC but same problem.

Anything appearing in the Security log of the Event Viewer?

All I can think of is that you now contact Microsoft Support to see if there is a solution available.

Thanks forthe help linney.
It is a permissions problem just not sure where
anybody else want to throw in there 2cents worth?

Max
