I've created a custom toolbar to use with a particular Excel 97 file, and I would like to "attach" this toolbar to the file so it will appear when someone else opens the file. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dreamboat,

Thank you very much for your response. The method explained in the link works great for attaching and unattaching the toolbar when *I* open and close the file. Unfortunately it doesn't actually save the toolbar with the file....so when someone else opens the file the just receive a VBA error.

My aim is to have the toolbar available to anyone who opens the file.

Thanks again.

sgreenwood,
When you create a new toolbar, it defaults to save in the Normal.dot template so it is available in any document on that computer. When creating the toolbar, you can change the setting to this document, thus it would save the toolbar with the file.

I do not know of a way to change it once it has been created, so I would recommend creating a second toolbar, change the setting, and drag all of the buttons over.

Good Luck,
AngO

Actually, using the first link you sent and some poking around in excel myself I was able to make it work. The first link you sent gave the VBA code for turning the toolbar on and off when opening and closing the file. The problem I was having was when someone else opened the file the toolbar wasn't there. I discovered in the "customize" toolbar popup there is a command to "attach" the toolbar to the particular file. Once I attached the toolbar to the file and entered the VBA code from your first link everything worked perfectly.

Thanks VERY much for you help! X-)
Steve
