IUSR password change - NOTHING WORKS!!!

Help... I have just had some #$#@$@ change the password for the IUSR_machinename user and now nothing works. How can I fix this? I don't know what the password was before.

Phew! Fixed this by uninstalling and reinstalling IIS and recreating all of the web sites. A bit of a pain, but we are back in business!

Under the directory security tab for your website property pages, you can edit the account information.

Tried that... didn't help... I think I stuffed it up more. But it's all better now. Thanks anyway, bierhunter.

Just had this problem myself, I found a great solution on, yes, really, on Microsoft's website. It tells you how to find out what the original IUSR account password was and reset it. Here's the link:

It lets you fix the problem without having to reinstall IIS
