I run windows xp professional sp2 and each time I delete an item I then go to the recycle bin to see if it is there and it is NOT. I then go back and right click my mouse on the Recycle bin and it does give me the option to delete all contents in the recycle bin ( meaning there are some items and is not actually empty ). I can also go into the recycle bin and select Restore all items which it should NOT if the recycle bin was really empty. Basically, each time I delete any items they do go to the recycle bin though they are not visible in there? I am up to date on Norton Defenition files/nop viruses/no spyware/java is fine and also all security and update patches are installed. Any ideas guys? Thanks !!

The Recycled folder itself can become damaged. Files are moved to the folder and the Recycle Bin on the desktop appears full but you cannot view the contents and the Empty The Recycle Bin command may be unavailable, or simply doesn't work.

Deleting the Recycle Bin and then restarting Windows, which will re-create and restore its functionality. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

At the command prompt, type the following lines, pressing ENTER after each line:
(Assuming it is C: drive)

attrib -r -s -h c:\recycler
del c:\recycler

It will be recreated when you restart
