Hi All,
Have a guestion for you. Just purchased a Geforce2-mx400 (64 meg). Everything seemed to run fine untill i tried to load up a few games. System either crashes or kicks me back to the desktop when attempting to load anything D3D or OPENGL. Will also crash if i try to re-set the resolution (in game -when it loads) to anything other than my desktop res! Have installed the latest drivers to no avail. The only thing that seems to work (and it's a minimum) is turning the AGP APETURE SIZE to 64meg and AGP FAST WRITE OFF. The card is supposed to work at 4X. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? Running DIRECTX8 and previously had a BANSHEE in the machine and all was fine.
Thanks!

I think there might be. But I also got mine around that time. But I just had a look at mine and it is over a half ince long <-- my fault :) But I guess you are right about PCI slots. Mine fits OK. -Feryl

Just looked at the links. And there's my baby. Geforce2 MX with a blue orb. The orb was in the same package the picture shows. I have an ASUSA7V mobo and it fits fine in it. -Feryl

Yeh, as above, it's identical in every way with the same packaging. Gotta be the motherboard shape then.

wait i got a asus a7v too...so that means it has to fit...awesome!! but anyway....i saw this new thermatake orb on a site. Its called the orange orb. Its just like the blue orb except pretty much smaller and orange! oh yea the fan spins faster too and they say the blue and orange orb has pretty much the same great performance.

Orange? Wierd. Can you bring up the link so I can see it? -Feryl

now heres a review on the blue orb..this one says that the blueorb only spins at 4500...whats with the false reviews?

ok...the distance between my pci slots are the exact same as the distance from my agp to my pci slot. So does that mean the blue orb will fit without taking up a pci slot? (i'm on a asus a7v)

OK, so I don't get blamed for screwing you up. I am just going to say that it will take a PCI slot. It is better to have an open PCI slot anyways so good airflow would go through the fan. -Feryl

Hello,
There is a little FAQ I made a little while ago. Check it out.

Mmm, well if you've got a card with SDRAM and not DDR then you'll be wanting to overclock the RAM. Boosting the bandwidth of the SDRAM will be where the speed is likely to come from. If you want to go down that route then check this out:
If you want to overclock the core then you can do that in a similar way to the memory using a util that adds a few registry entries to uncover a hidden setting in your display properties. I'm not sure what cards this works on so it's best to check it out. The last I heard was that it works with the NVidia drivers, I'm not sure about individual makes drivers. There's another artcle that tells you about it here:

Happy OC'ing! :)

ok i did everything it said i should do....download coolbits, go to -> Active Desktop -> Customize -> Settings -> Advanced -> Geforce2 tab -> Additional Properties and there should be a tab that says hardware options where there is a slider so i can do 5 incresments at a time for core clock freq. and memory clock freq. But i dont see that tab. I see everything else tho. any sugg.?

There is a hardware options tab that pops out. You have to check ALLOW CLOCK FREQUENCY ADJUSTMENTS so you can do overclocking. -Feryl

Where do i click the "ALLOW CLOCK FREQUENCY ADJUSTMENTS" box? sorry for all your trouble.

what system are you running? Does the hardware options tab have two sliders that are inaccessible? One that says MHZ and one says CPU. If there is a Hardware options tab, then there should be a checkbox that asks you ALLOW CLOCK FREQUENCY ADJUSTMENTS. -Feryl
