Hello All,

I am having an issue bringing up an MSDL circuit within a CS1000M loop 8. This is in the expansion cabinet. I am getting the below error message:

MSDL 16: MAN DSBL
.enl msdl 16 fdl
MSDL028

MSDL0028
Cannot enable the card because it is not present in the system.
If the card in question is believed to be present, check if the switch
settings on the card agree with the device number entered in this
command.
Severity: Minor

Maybe there are card dip switch settings that need to be changed?

There is (1) dip switch with 4 setting on that switch. This is the MSDL daughterboard mounted on the PRI/ T1 card. No TMDI.

This expansion cabinet is not connected via a fiber tranceiver card but via the DB cable connections on the back. I did test this card in a known good loop (3) within this CS1000M.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

go to ld 22 and provide a snapshot of your CEQU. You definately do not have the MSDL provision correctly because the PBX can't see it.

Is this a CS1000M Cabinet? What kind of T1 card, NTAK09? and the part number on the DCH DB?

The below is the information in regards to this new PRI/ T1 with a MSDL daughterboard. The PBX is an CS1000M. My co-worker believes that this card needs to be moved to the main cabinet in order to work. I would need to move a 48 port DLC plus 45 crossconnects to spare TN's that is in slots 4-6 first. I would do that but not sure that this new card would work in slot 4 either? The PBX does appear to see the T1 card in slot 8 but not the MSDL card. Keep in mind the main cabinet and this expansion cabinet are not connected via fiber but via amp type of connections on the back of the cabinet. I have tested this MSDL card in the working slot 3 as good.

The one that I am having issues with is loop 8 on the bottom. The other new PRI/ T1/ MSDL card that was installed is loop 3 above that and it works fine. My application is use the CS1000M PRI's as the master to communicate with a Mitel 3300. That is the only purpose of these PRI's. I am not sure why there is a - under T1TE? We are using QSIG between the Mitel and Nortel.

The PRI/ T1 card is an NTAK09 card and the daughterboard or MSDL card is a NTBK51BA.

I also needed to use T1 crossover cables in order to sync up the CS1000M and the Mitel trunking ports.

Thank you

Maybe I'm confused, but wouldn't loop 8 be in slot 8 of the main cabinet?

Yes, the below is the erros message that I am getting: (8 is the loop and the DCH is 16)

It should be MSDL 8 not 16

I already have a DCH of 8:

DCH 011 : OPER EST ACTV AUTO DES : QSIG_LP3
DCH 016 : DSBL RST AUTO DES : QSIG_LP8
.
The DCHL needs to match the loop, correct?

You said this card is in the expansion cabinet. If it is loop 8 it should be in the main cabinet, slot 8, like "asodoma" mentioned above. That may be why the system does not see the card.

Looks like you have a Chassis instead of a cabinet. The 48 port DLC needs to stay in the main cabinet to cover slots 4,5,6. The T1 card would need to be installed in slots 1, 2 or 3 and will not work in the expansion cabinet.

Looks like your chassis is full. You will probably need to upgrade to a Cabinet system instead. I know you can do a fiber expansion but I'm not sure if you can have T1s in the expansion.

You may be able to replace the 48 DLC with 3 DLC cards and put them in the expansion then install the T1 card in slot 4 of the main but I'm just guessing.

There should be a compatability matrix available on Avaya's website that would help you.

The first cabinet or main is loops 0-6(with the 48 port DLC in slot 4).
The second cabinet or expansion is loops 7-10 with the VGMC card in slot 7.

I am not sure how else to enable this MSDL card other than enl msdl 16 fdl?

This is in loop 8 but the actual "D" chael or MSDL is 16.

My other theory is that slot 8 is bad? That could be why I can't bring up this MSDL card? Slot 8 was also a spare card slot which I found as odd.

Thanks

Hello guycable. My senior PBX person told me that same thing that this PRI/ T1 card will not work in the expansion cabinet unless it was IP. I wanted to try anyways.

I have other spare slots at this location where I can move the 48 people to. It is just allot of crossconnecting and I wanted to make sure that this PRI would actually work in slot 4 and not have the same issues.

I have PRI cards in slot 1,2 and most recently 3.

Thanks

Just be aware that the 48 DLC card will not work anywhere but slot 4 of the main cabinet.

PRI CARD WILL ONLY WORK IN SLOTS 1-3 AND THE 48 PORT DIGITAL WILL ONLY WORK IN SLOT 4. The proper command to enable your card IF it was allowed is ENL MSDL 8 FDL. So as stated in other posts looks like you need to add another main cabinet or upgrade to CS1000M
Good Luck.

Thank you everyone. Here is my next issue. On the PRI card that is working I can not access any of the channels by either dialing the access code or direct selecting the channels. I get a dialtone back and am not hitting the mitel. I did a trace on this new span and all channels are idle. The mitel tech insisted that his equipment is provisioned properly. I built an ACD number and ncfw to the trunk access code and also tried building a phantom 500 port and dcfw to this trunk access code. I never hit any of those channels. The mitel tech
told me that I should at least hit my channels and get a ring no answer. Does the issue sound like it is on the nortel side? I also tried using Cdp.

Is everyone sure that I can install a PRI card in slot 4 of a CS1000M cabinet? I spent 2 hours moving 47 crossconnects from that 48 port DLC card slot 4 and moved my PRI card in slot 4. I also had a little difficulty getting the card to snap into slot 4. I am having the exact same issue when attempting to enable the MSDL that I had in slot 8.
I also didn't see the card get plugged in while logged in the PBX. Normally you would see xmi004 or something to that effect when plugging a card in. I am in the same boat I was in earlier with slot 8.

Any ideas?

Ok, That makes sense. Hopefully none of the pins had gotten bent in slot 4 when I plugged that card in.

So the max amount of PRI's in a 1000M is 3, correct?

Thanks
