Hey guys,
DOes the IPSI do DHCP to my PNs/other IPSIs and if how would I check to confirm.

THanks.

Thanks Jaymzter. What about the clan and medpro, are they doing any sort of non-static communication?
And do they talk directly to each other meaning does one have control and the other like bearer?

Thanks in advance.

the clan and the medpro board are always at fixed ip addresses. The clan takes the signaling part, and the medpro takes the bearer part. The reason that thosd ip-interfaces have staticly assigned ip adresses is because many differend adjunts can connect to the clan board. i.e. ip phones, messaging systems, cdr system and so on. If clan would be have his ip adress dynamicly assigned, all thos adjunts do not now on what ip adress the clan could be. Therefore its always fixed.

on the ipsi board is an lcd display. if this display shows like A01 or A02 its DHCP controlled. If the display shows IP then its staticly assigend. if you give in the SAT a list ip-server-interface you can see all the ipsi boards and their state.

i would like to recommend you the following documentation:

Avaya administrator guide for communication manager. find it at go to support and then to communication manager documentation.

good luck!

The DHCP server is running on your Media Processor (S8700, S8500, etc...). That is why the control network(s) need(s) to be a completly private network to prevent any interference with the DHCP server and the IPSI communication to the Media Processor.
