We are installing ISDN-PRI T1's in the next month. Our company only wants to accept ANI from our vendor on certain toll free numbers due to the cost per call. I was told by our vendor that this is done on the PBX. We have an S8700 running MultiVantage 1.2. Where would this be set up?

Thanks in advance!!

If you are saying you want to see ani on some numbers and not others because your provider is charging per call, then there is an issue. While you can disable or enable ani at the trunk group level, your PBX does not control what the 800 provider sends to you. Furthermore, your provider will bill you for sending the ani, regardless of if you're passing it to your users or even able to use it. The control over what is being sent and eventually billed is within their control not yours. Either your question is misphrased or more likely, your 800 provider is pulling your leg. What vendor is this? They typically charge ani delivery as a monthly fee on the circuit, not on a per number basis. -CL

AT&T charges us $0.01 per call to deliver ANI. You cannot choose by individual 800 # whether to deliver ANI. You would have to have separate trunk groups to make this happen. It's really silly to try to save $0.01 per call!

Thanks for your comments. I agree that it is silly to try to save $0.01 per call but that is what our business wants to do to save money where we can.

Here is the exact desctiption I received from our AT&T account rep:

"There is a feature described as ANI on Demand. Here is a brief description: This service is a partnering with the Equipment Vendor and AT&T ISDN. The equipment will query AT&T as to when to provide ANI. This will be established by what DNIS is sent to the equipment. The equipment, on identifying which DNIS is sent will then either request ANI, or, not. The initial configuration is designed by the Equipment Vendor. Advanta would provide to them, which DNIS, ANI is requested on. AT&T must be notified if this is the way the trunk group is to be provisioned. All subsequent changes would be performed by the Equipment Vendor."

As I understand it, this is only available when using ISDN-PRI so that the signaling can be done on the D-channel. Anyone know anything about this?

I stand corrected. Looks like page 3 of the trunk group form will allow special CPN/BN handling based on DNIS. Scroll over to that field and hit "help" to see the options for "bn-only bn-pref cpn-only cpn-pref none"

change trunk-group 1 Page 3 of 22 SPE B
INCOMING CALL HANDLING TREATMENT
Service/ Called Called Del Insert Per Call Night

bn-only bn-pref cpn-only cpn-pref none -CL
