Can you confiure ISA server on a PC and put 3 nic cards (2wan 1 lan) into it. Configure teh Wan connections for load balancing/failover and extra bandwidth? Kinda like a sonicwall TZ-170 enchanced OS.

How about teaming the 2 NIC's that you want to use for the WAN link? That should give you fail-over and should increase through-put.

Thats what im wondering can ISA server have 2 WAN links going at same time to increase bandwidth? EX. sonicwall if I have 2 wan connections with 1.5meg d/l speeds it will load balance with the 2 connections giving you 3meg download.

Billy,

I think if you use the hardware teaming feature on your server, ISA will only see it as one card. I don't believe that the ISA software on it's own can do what you want to do.

Dan

Darn that sucks. I'll have to look at linux then.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to have one box connecting to two different WAN's. If this is the case, I think you'll be hard-pressed to find a solution. Most, if not all Firewall applications need to bind to a single adapter in order to provide total protection. If you attempt to throw in another connection, you'll need to "pool" the connections prior to hitting the firewall. Even through Linux, you'll have to do the same thing.

So I should just pay the 500$ for sonicwall OS enhanced?
