Hi, I test SMTP on 2000 server and I type in dos:

c:>\ telnet mail.yahoo.com:25

Connecting To mail.yahoo.com...Could not open a connection to host on port 25: Connect failed

c:>\ telnet mx1.mail.yahoo.com:25

Connecting To mx1.mail.yahoo.com...Could not open a connection to host on port 25: Connect failed

Is xxx@yahoo.com SMTP? How to make it work if it is. I need send notification from oracle database to my yahoo email. Thanks.

Try a space instead of a colon, as in:
c:>\ telnet mx1.mail.yahoo.com 25

I'm sure you will want local echo, so you may wish to do it like this:

C:>\ telnet
set local_echo
open mx1.mail.yahoo.com 25

hope this helps...

Thanks your reply gbiello, I remember last time your suggestion to make SMTP work on 2000 server is copy 3 telnet file from NT. I want to try it but I don't have NT with me. Could you send them to wenglingkai@yahoo.com? Please tell me the detail of which dir to put. I needs to make it work for the database notification to my yahoo email. Thanks again!
