I am going to purchase a new computer this time. Our company uses NT server network. So my question is this: Can I buy a Windows XP professional version PC to connect the network? Does anyone have any ideas about how well Windows XP running on NT? Is it difficult to configue the network settings on Windows XP?

Since I have nerver worked on windows XP before, I don't know if this is worth to try. Any suggestions will be greatlly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

HI.

Most XP related problems are incompatible drivers or 3rd party software like anti virus, that you will also need to update to the latest version if you don't have.

In general XP PRO can connect to NT server in a similar way and settings as W2K PRO.

I suggest that you do go for XP on the new computer, instead of using older OS versions. If you'll have problems you will probably be able to fix them.

Rosee,

Win2K, NT and XP are all built on the same kernel and there are many parallels in features and functionality. Yes, XP works well on an NT network.

Hope that helps.

Hi all
I am facing a problem with windows NT 4.0 crashing on a HP LH 3000 server even after applying all latest patches and service packs. The server runs IBM DB2 and Websphere.
Any updates on this???

Sriram Bhargav,

This should be a new thread. It does not appear to have any relation to the existing thread.

Also there is nowhere near enough information to provide any guidance.

You should have no problem with XP on NT. I have a few XPs here running with no problem.
