Is Virus scan halting Checkdisk on NT4 box

We are getting a quick message on the screen when our server boots up:
CANNOT OPEN VOLUME FOR DIRECT ACCESS

Could VirusScan 4.5.1 service be halting the check disk operation ?

System is NT4 Server sp6a

It can't be because VirusScan 4.51 DOESN'T WORK on NT SERVER! :)

It has to be something else :) AVChap
... my $1 worth of advise, 2cents isn't enough due to inflation
