HI,
If you find any new functionality updated in Crystal Report XI R2 please share that information?

Thanks,
-M

rajrev,

There are too many new updates CR XI R2 to list in a forum, you can go to business objects and look up the new possibilities. They have some nice white papers explaining them.

Thanks,

I don't think there is a Crystal REPORTS XI release 2. At least I can't find mention of one. There is a BO ENTERPRISE XI release 2 but I don't think this changes Crystal Reports XI. Anyone have different information on this?

That might be where the confusion is coming from but I don't think service packs count as new releases. For example, if you go to the BO web site they are selling a new product named:

"BO Enterprise Release 2"

But there is no product for sale called Crystal Reports XI Release 2. Just Crystal Reports XI.

There is a Crystal Reports XI Release 2 that you can download here:
The main reason they released it was for connectivity with Universes and Enterprise R2.
They did make some minor changes to CR that i have come across.
They finally added back the check box in the Insert, Summary dilaog that allows you to add the summary to all levels.
There is some new find functionality for finding field references in formulas and such. Should come in handy.
They also added a button in the Field Explorer to allow you to duplicate a formula.
I think there may be a few more that I can't think of right now.

BTW, if you have a valid keycode for XI R1, it will work with R2, so you can download it and use it without any additional costs.

Well I stand corrected. Thanks Brian. How would you find that page from the front door of the site? I couldn't find it anywhere.

Brian,

Could you check and see if you have "Free Form Placement" at the top of your section expert? I had an XI customer who didn't have this option and he thought it might be because of an upgrade.

They have removed the "Free Form Placement" property from the Section Expert.
Down at the bottom they have the "Relative Positions" property. If this property is not selected, then it is now the same as having "Free Form Placement" on. If it is off, then it is the same as having Snap to Grid.
I always thought it was a little confusing as to why they had both properties anyway. Perhaps a drop down list would have been more straight forward.

As far as how I got the link, I believe I Googled "crystal reports xi release 2" and it was the first hit. I can't find a way to get to it from their website either.

There are already several problems with CR XI R2 and so far no luck finding a fix. Take a look at the BO KB.

the hotfix referenced is for BOXI not CRXI aand will not install unless you have BOXI installed.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND ANYTHING DIFFERENT.

Despite the issue noted above.

If you are using BOE-XI (R2) you are advised to use CR-XI (R2). I have had a bunch of issues with BOE-XI (R2) not working propely with CR-XI (R1) installed.

Despite the advice noted above...
I agree, however I am looking for a patch to fix the problem caused by the install of CR XIR2.

Hi,
did you, as was implied by the doc, remove the CRXI ( R1).NET structure, reboot and install the R2?

Hi and thanks
I began on a dev machine with a clean install of VS2005 without installing the embeded CR. I then installed CR XI developer edition. and then installed CR XIR2 and set my project references and web.config to use the 11.5 components.
If I am understanding you correctly, I should have uninstalled CR XI R1 before installing R2.
Also I notice that the prior versions remain the the assembly cache. Should the prior versions dll's have been removed the GAC?

Hi,

Yes..That seesm to be mplied by the docs note that the error happens when R2 is installed on the same machine as R1 ...Removing R1 should allow R2 to work correctly.

I do not know enough ablut the .NET assemplies to comment on your second part, but, clean is usually better than upgraded..

You are absolutely correct. Uninstalling R1 and reinstalled R2 solved my issue...Thanks
