My ISP changed its VSAT link. I have implemented the change on the router, but I still cannot browse on my systems.
----------
Previous config for interface 1/0
ip address 217.117.x.x 255.255.255.0

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 217.117.x.x

New config that I made for interface 1/0

ip address 88.x.x.x 255.255.255.224

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 88.x.x.x
-----------
Can the problem be from the subnest mast which is 255.255.255.224? All the subnet mast in my office is 255.255.255.0

Please respond urgently!

you can subnet it down to .224 that would be 14 usable host address n.n.n.nh /27

Thanks. But can you write the statement for that? I'm kinda lost out.

trust me on this apply this command to your global config.

ip classless

this will enable your router to look beyond your local network of 217.117.x.x to find the default route via 88.x.x.x

this is because the router will only look with its class boundary in this case C Class to find a route to other networks. By enabling ip classless the router will use routes beyond the class boundary for routing.

hope this helps.

255.255.255.224 (/27) gives you 28 usable host addresses.

Thanks. I used 255.255.255.224/27. Then I had to manually change the internet interface state to up!

Today I discovered that the interface state went down again. I manually set it to up again by using the commands...
int e1/0
no shutdown
ctrl-z
wr

How can I stop the interface from going down again?

that should be it are you reseting the router remember copy ru st

What is the subnet mask in your office. Are you running NAT?
If so has the device that is running NAT been updated to reflect the change from the 217.x.x.x to the new 88.x.x.x?
