Currently I have a Creative Labs Encore 5X PCDVD, comes with a Dxr3 DVD Decoder card, which allows much smoother playback, TV out, and AC-3(Dobly Digital) output, I have a SBLive! Platinum, I notice the new line of SBLive! 5.1, and basically it's core feature is that it has an AC3 Decoder on the card, so you can have the 5.1 surround at your computer, the only way I could get 5.1 currently is to cable 2 AV Cable to my AV Receiver, one for the video and one for the digital audio (I recently got a new DVD player for my TV which uses Optical Audio cable, and S-Video , so far as the TV goes, it's much nicer) DVD playback is nice on the Desktop on my computer, howerver, I am interested in this 5.1 sound for my computer, currently I have a Quadrophonic setup, and when playing DVD, it just does a 4 point surround, not locational sound like on a 5.1 system.

Basically I ask, If I have a SBLive! Platinum already, is getting one of the SBLive! 5.1 series worth it? no don't buy the 5.1 soundblasterlive , but buy a cambrigde soundworks dtt2500 for 5.1 surround sound and connect it to your drx3 digital out port. in the dtt2500 packgage you get a better acd3 decoder hardware in the box with volume control

the cambridge... (so forth) does it have a AC3 decoder built in, or is it one of those extra accessories (like I recently bought a digital camera, and most of the good stuff are needed by accessories)
