Hi forum,
I'n not sure if i'm in the right forum, since I don't know the first thing about perl, but here it comes:
I host an ubuntu server and downloaded an answering machine (VOCP); installations seemed to go well. When I receive a call , a script (vocp.pl) is executed. The sript failed with a long list of errors:

============
Use of uninitialized value in scalar chomp at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/Modem/Vgetty.pm line 73, <GEN0> line 6.
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/Modem/Vgetty.pm line 74, <GEN0> line 6.
Use of uninitialized value in hash element at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/Modem/Vgetty.pm line 75, <GEN0> line 6.
Use of uninitialized value in string ne at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/Modem/Vgetty.pm line 113, <GEN0> line 6.
============

These four errors repeat hundreds of times. I read on some google result that it's due to a broken perl interpreter.
Is that so, and if, how do I test/fix what going wrong? Should I post the section of the script that fails?

Thank you in advance!

Did you try asking this question on the VOCP forums? You do have the newest versions of their stuff right? You did configure everything after installation right?

travs69, thank you for the quick reply.

The vocp forum seems to not exist. There's some kind of a vocp forum on sourceforge.net, but with virtually 0 traffic. Last two years had something like 5 posts in total.

The vocp installer claimed that install is complete and all good. I'd love to set it up, but I can't find any documentation. I'm not to scared to figure it out though. My thought was to first get the "factory default" up and running and then start tweaking. Do you believe that the problem might be related to software configuration? I'll certainly explore that.

when I tried to play with vocp I had no luck with it at all so I'm probably not the best person to ask. I thought they used to have open forums but now they seem to only have some weird assistance thing. I ended up going with asterisk :)

Thanks, tracs69!
I take that as "probably a software issue" - So, asterisk you say ... I'll explore that - thanks for the hint.
