Last night I transferred my rig to a new case. I hooked everything back up and booted. Immediately the monitor displayed a random mess of blinking squares and flashing lines. Despite this, from what I could hear, the computer booted normally up to the point where it would bring up my Win2K login screen where it then reset itself. I tried reseating the card without any favorable result. Then I put in an older card I have and the bios screen came up just fine and the computer booted without a problem. Any ideas what to do for my card? It's a Ti 4200 :(

If the orig card doesn't work,
a test card does..
and putting the original back still doesn't work.

Replace it

you might try clearing your BIOS, restoring defaults, and/or double checking the settings in case something got messed up in there somehow (i'd do all of them in that order). Maybe some voltage or bus speed is thrown off....who knows. And the two cards are tried are different and take different settings, so putting in that other card doesnt necessarily mean that the newer one is bad. dont trash it though until youre completely sure. maybe try the 'bad card' in another machine and see if you get the same symptoms.

New case, or new case + motherboard?

If the latter you need to re-install to update your HAL, the hardware abstraction layer.
