Hi,
I noticed that my disk is always being accessed, even when I'm not running anything and I have no Page File enabled.
I'm guessing it's because of all those "Info" Events that are being logged all the time. I'm wondering if there's a way to make the Event Log only write Errors & Warnings?

I know how to filter the Event Log to show only Errors & Warnings, but that's not what I want. I want to be able to get Windows to a point where the disk is never accessed if the system is idle, and therefore the disks can power down after being idle for x minutes.

This talks about a Registry setting that you may be able to adapt or apply or at least look at to see if it has any use for you. Personally I think you may be up against it and may be better off locating what is actually writing to the drive via some of the permormance tools in Vista.

Some items from the last link, under the Disk Monitoring area.

"Disk displays the total current I/O in green, and displays the highest active time percentage in blue.
