Is it possible to create a department mailbox

Is it possible to create a department mailbox so that when the caller press 1,2 or 3 for that department, it will automatically ring at multiple extensions within that department. And if no one picks up in the dept, it will go to a department mailbox to leave caller's message.

We have a Meridian 6x16 R5 and Startalk with version 2.0.3A set to use 2 digits DNs.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

You are looking for call center functionality or atleast hunt groups - both would entail a system upgrade
You can try putting up an aux ringer for a dept

I would yank the system out. Go with a new Norstar CICS and a Call Pilot 100. Look at maybe getting basic call center or use a hunt group like senk1s mentioned. Bundles are cheap these days on these systems. Good luck. Your VM isn't even Y2K.

How about having the call ring at only one extension and if no answers, the call would be routed to a seperate mailbox.

it can ring at an extension, and if no one answers, it can go to that extensions mailbox. YES.
It sounds like you would benefit by getting a vendor in there to program the system to your specifications, and explain what it can and cant do.

I would try building a tree place that department in place 1,2,or 3 Then that ext that it forwards to to have a m-box other pones around to have answer dn,and place them in the same pick up group..So if the call is not answered it will go to v-mail and or can be pickup from any of them..
