Is it possible to configure a telnet password into frm a remote router 1

Hi guys can any one plz help with this issue?


someone mis configured, forgot to give the telnet password, a switch and sent tht to a remote location.

So now is it possible to give the telnet password from a remote location and access that switch.....?

The only way would be to use SNMP,but obviously the switch has to be configured with a "Read Write community".

If you could post a sh run, which depends on how old it is. There are a few hacks on the older ones, like Ping of Death, x.x.x.x/level15/access/15, something like that, then use a cracker to accessthe level 7 password.

Plug a modem into it, dial in and go through the password recovery process.

If he plugs a modem into it, he may as well do that locally...unless there is a way to remotely plug in a modem...

Maybe he has a drone (User) on site that can plug the modem in for him.

True, then I would suggest that the drone do the password recovery. It can be done---I had an accountant/salesman do it for me one time. Not as smooth as I would have liked it to be, but nevertheless done, which, admittedly, surprised me.

That is not a slam to you salesmen out there...or, is it?lol
