Any body can tell about is definity system replaces by CM2.0 . AND G3series discontinue produce and support laster time.
Is G3R series had stopped produce on last years.

this news is come from some china forum.

ANY PEOPLE KNOW THAT is it true ?

Definity has been renamed from Definity to MultiVantage, and now to Communication Manager.. Its still the same, but different name..

As well as the G3R being discontinued, they moved away from the traditional processors to the new media server based platforms, which are a PC running Linux and controlling the traditional TDM/IP infrastructure.

The equivalent of a G3R is the S8700 Media Server..

End of support has been annouced for all of the definity line, including the G3R
Title: Product Transition for UN331C Processor Server Circuit Pack to Avaya S8700 Media Server

Notification Date: March 10, 2003

Updated: 10/23/2003—End of sale date changed from November 3, 2003 to December 8, 2003

Avaya is taking another step toward a simplified converged communication infrastructure. Market acceptance for the Avaya S8700 Media Server, which supports customer applications such as contact center, unified communications and mobility, has been very positive. The S8700 Media Server will replace servers in the Avaya portfolio that use the UN331C Processor Circuit Pack.

Avaya is ending sale for the UN331C Processor Circuit Pack. The end of sale will be done in three phases. December 2003 will be the end of sale of new servers that use UN331C Processor. May 2004 will be end of sale for UN331C Processor as an ATM disaster recovery server. November 2004 will be the end of sale of software upgrades to the UN331C Processor

Imagine if you will, the SPEs (01A and 01B) in the G3r taken out and put into their own little boxes. Those boxes happen to be called Media Servers, specifically a pair of S8700 Media Servers. The cabinets are now called Media Gateways, Multi-Carrier and Single-Carrier, plus a few new ones. If you are buying a new S8700, you will get the new G650 cabinets. These are 19 inch rack mounted 14 slot cabinets that have the capability of a redundant power supply on the right hand side of the G650. It does come with one power supply on the left side.
The Media Servers connect to the Media Gateways via Ethernet to an IP Services Interface board (IPSI). Now the way this all connects is a semi-mesh network. The two S8700s have a few Ethernet connections on both of them. Eth0 on both Servers is Control Network A. Eth1 is a services port that is addressed as 192.11.13.6/30. So p2p network can be made directly to that port with a 192.11.13.5/30 for local admin. All the other Ethernet ports are on a 4 port NIC. Eth2 is used as an arbiter link via a crossover cable from one S8700 to another. (I like to use the little crossover that comes with the C-LAN boards. (Cuts down on all that cable at the back of the S8700s.) Eth3 is for your LAN connections if you want to have the S8700s and the Media Gateways on its own private network (Explained in a bit.) Eth4 is for the second control network, known as Control Network B. Eth5 is not used at this time.
Now you take the connections for Control Network A (Green patch cables) and plug them into one data switch. Right now Avaya is using the Cajun line, P130s or P330s. You take the Control Network B connections (Red patch cables) and plug them into second data switch. You now have a two connection mesh network. Mesh networks are 3 connections or more from each host, but just follow me. From there you can go out to your IPSI cards in your Media Gateway cabinets.
Now let me explain about redundancy for the S8700s. You have to buy two S8700s, but can have more with Communication Manager 3 due out sometime this year or next. You take those two and connect them with only one data switch, that’s called Duplex reliability, and you only use Control Network A. If you have two data switches, using both control networks, it’s called High or Critical reliability. The difference between High and Critical is IPSI board duplication. Now for Critical you have to have at least 2 G630s in a port network, 01A and 01B (up to five G650s in a port network stack) AND at least 2 Gateways have to hold IPSI boards.
So that means that High reliability only has one IPSI per port network. No IPSI reliability.

There are two types of S8700 configurations, Multi-Connect and IP-Connect. Multi-Connect is if you have the Control Networks and IPSIs (C-LANs, Media Processors not included) on their own private network and not integrated into your LAN. I like this config because it not susceptible to a customer's LAN issues. IP-Connect is if the Control Networks and IPSIs are all on your LAN. With Multi-Connect you need to use Eth3 up above to have some LAN connectivity to the servers for admin, maintenance, backups, etc. IP-Connect you don't need to use Eth3 because everything, Eth0 and Eth3 of both S8700s are on the customer's LAN.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Your Media Servers and data switches, a.k.a. Control Networks are on two UPS's. Control Network A (one S8700 and data switch) is on one UPS. The other set is, of course, on the second UPS. The default UPS that is being sent out now only holds the Control Networks up for 14 minutes or less. If you add one external battery module (EBM) to each UPS, it will give you 24 minutes extra. I've seen jobs, which I haven't done, where customers and business partners plugged other things into those UPSs. Don't do that.

My fingers hurt now from all this typing. Going to go have a beer.

Also starting in CM 2.0 you can you other vendor switches..

I personally hate the Cajun ethernet switches.. I've had multiple switches fail on my in the S8700 configs.. Luckily we've done the high reliabilty config and the switches haven't gone down fully..

Thank you all of yours help very useful.
But in older model (e.g g3si) series that using TN2404 is it will be replaced by S8500 or S8300 series? That make G3 series goto S8xxx series later.

a G3si can go to S8700, depending on the 'L' number of the carrier, i think.

All the Definitys have a current replacement. That doesn't mean u can't keep your Definity, it just means that in the coming years u won't be able to get support from Avaya. U can still get support from other vendors just like u can get support for the System 75 v1, which is the original Definity, although it wasn't called Definity. In the same way, all Audix R1, Audix Voice Power, and older Intuitys and Definity Audix are no longer supported by AVaya.
