I seem to have a big problem.

I had a bad mem module, and decided to replace both 512mb modules and added a third to fill the available 3 slot memory bank. The modules are all identical.

Now a get BSOD suddendly. No pattern to it.

The first few times was a message of access outside the pagefile area. Sorry cannot remember the exact message and just now had another with a different message - irqs_not_less_or_equal.

I researched this one and found very little info and that left me confused.

So can someone please explain to me what is going on and how I can solve.

Thanks

Are the RAM modules all the same type and do they match your motherboard requirements and specifications?

I got the specs of the old modules and bought exact matches.
The memory bank has 3 slots, and 2 were filled with 512mb, so I replaced both and added a third 512mb.
Why should that cause BSOD? Would 3 modules cause a problem? And I get them at odd instances. I see no pattern to them.

That is the reason why I do not understand the these BSOD.

Just found the other message: page_fault_in_nonpaged_area.

None of these two stop messages make sense to me.

Should I take the modules out and then reseat them in another bank so that all then occupy different banks?

I sure would like to understand what is going on.

Thanks

Hi, Ferlach

If you use just 2 modules in the old slots does it work OK?
Is your swapfile set to automatic?

I would definitely try a memory test. You could have received a bad module or it is very easy to zap memory when swapping.

is free
costs $10

Microsoft also has a memory test pgm, but I can't find a link at the moment.

also some motherboards do not like double sided dimms in the third SLOT (like my ancient P4 motherboard)...

check the manual, if possible...
