Is it standard to have at least one IPSI card per port network? Avaya recently tried to upsize my 8700 + ECC (refrigerator) port network to add two additional port networks (using four G650 gateways) to alleviate time clock issues. They tried to cable it with an IPSI in port network 2 and another one in port network 3 and no IPSI card on the original ECC (port network 1) and they failed to get it working. We had to roll it back. I'm wondering if they are cutting corners by not putting in an IPSI in port network one since the project is fixed price and they forgot some other stuff already.

Bottom line -- are you supposed to have at least one IPSI card per port network?!? Thanks!

Hi,

I take it that you do not have a centre stage. If you are using direct connected port networks then you can only have one functioning IPSI. If you are running high reliability then you would have one on control network A and one on Control network B (green and red cables connecting them) You can add additional IPSI boards but cannot wire them in and must disable IPSI control on the additional boards. The only function that they would be performing would be the call classifer function. If you are running a centre stage then you can put one in per port network although you only need 1 for every 5 port networks.

Hope this helps.

Thanks -- but what is "Centre Stage"?

A centre stage also known as a switch node is required if you have more than 3 port networks. Instead of using expansion interface boards to connect to each port network all port networks would connect to the switch node carrier using a switch node interface card.
