I am having problems connectiong the S8700 with the G650
While I can do a display IPSI version and I can ping it
it still does not communicate , I even tried loading
version 22 firmware . Below I have the spects in the units :

C.M 2.2

Ethernet 0 Control Network A
Server 1 198.152.254.201
Server 2 198.152.254.202
Active 198.152.254.200
Subnet 255.255.255.0
100Mb Full Duplex

Ethernet 2 Server Duplication
Server 1 192.11.13.13
Server 2 192.11.13.14
Subnet 255.255.255 252

Ethernet 4 Corporate lan
Server 1 192.168.1.1
Server 2 192.168.1.2
Active 192.168.1.3
Subnet 255.255.255.0

100Mb Full Duplex

The IPSI is 198.152.254.210

Can anyone see where I have gone wrong ? The ETH light is on the arrow is full and pointing down ...all lights are on
but nobody home

do you use the RJ45 port on the front of the circuit pack or the amphenol adapter on the back of the G650 for your ethernet connection

have you done the following

"ch system-parameters ipserver-interface" to enter your IP addressing information

"add ipserver-interface PN" (PN is portnetwork number) for IPSI circuit pack information

"ch system-parameters duplication" to enable IPSI duplication (if relevant

To answer the questions :
I am connected at the front RJ45 direct into the IPSI
it is a strait cat 5 into a small switch and then into the
Ethernet 0 on the S8700

"ch system-parameters ipserver-interface will not even
allow me into the IP address field and no there are no IP address values in there

I added the PN for the IPSI

ch System- parameters duplication is not relevant

Did you add the IPSI to the system? "add ipserver-interface 1 (or whateve the PN# is)

have you checked your IPSI settings from the services port on the front of the IPSI?

if you do a "test led" do all the LEDs on the cabinet illuminate?

what if you do a "list con all" does it show as "no board

If you have the IPSI adaptor at the back of the G650, the front ethernet port will not work. Either put the adaptor and the cable in the back or remove the adaptor and use the front port.

In "change ipse 1" you should put the ip address of the IPSI board in the field "host" (remove the name it has there)

Also in "ch system-parameters ipserver-interface", the field "IPSI Control of Port Networks" should be changed to 'enabled' ....

Have you programmed the IPSI board with the ip address (through the services port) ???

Petran.

4Merlucent , list conf all shows 01A tone/clock only
Test LED brings the leds all up , they are fine

Petran ... I programmed the IPSI through the services port
set control interface ip address & subnet , show control
interface shows the correct address

I am of the opinion that "cha system parameters ipserver should not be blank ....
IPSI host prefix is blank]
primary control subnet is also blank
secondary control is blank too .

The command Cha sys param ipsi does not even give me the option to fill in the needed parameters .

Cha ipserver 1 however does have the correct I.P address .

So Cha sys param ipserver is empty and does not give the option to fill in the IPSI host prefix .

On the 'Configure server" web pages make sure that DHCP is not enabled for IPSi boards (on both servers' configuration)

The "Cha sys param ipserver" form allows you to enable the IPSI.

Change the field "IPSI control of Port Networks" to 'enabled'...
-------------------------------------------------------
change system-parameters ipserver-Interface

IP SERVER INTERFACE (IPSI) SYSTEM PARAMETERS

SERVER INFORMATION

IPSI Host Name Prefix:
Primary Control Subnet Address: 192.168. 40. 0
Secondary Control Subnet Address: 192.168. 40. 0

OPTIONS

Switch Identifier: A
IPSI Control of Port Networks: enabled

Petran.

The problem I am faced with is that I dont get the same option as you have shown below ,

When I do a "ch syt par ipsi" I dont see ip addresses
Nor do I have the option , all DHCP options within
the servers are off .

Why or under which conditions am I not given the option to fill in the IP addresses on the " cha sys param ipsi "

I don't have primary or secondary IP Addresses , all I have is an asterisk on the far right.

Please see if this gives any clues

Many many thanks

Try this

- Try removing the TN2312 from it's slot
- Re-insert the IPSO, and press the reset button within 5 seconds. The first digit will flash
- Press the reset button until the first digit shows as "I"
- Wait for the second digit to flash and press the reset button until the second digit shows as "0"
- Wait for the third digit to flash and press the reset button until the second digit shows as "0"
- Wait for the reset of the circuit pack
- The display now shows "IP" and you should be able to assign a static address.
