ipoffice 8.0 import configuration

I am new to the ipoffice and am trying to import a configuration as written in the help file. Does anyone know if import works?

I see conflicting reports in the Avaya knowledge base. Some say "this feature does not work right now" Others say it does.

When I import, there are no errors but nothing is written either. I have about 200 extensions and 200 users to import. The file looks ok, but nothing happens.

Does import work? Is there a trick to getting it to work? Is there a place to see the errors?

what format is your file in?
files in .cfg are just send via file - offline - send config

I should have Been more clear. I am using the exported Csv from the import/export option. It is a Csv file saved in utf-8 format

I've never imported anything but directory entries.

Call me old fashioned, but I don't trust these things. at best, names will get copied from a spreadsheet to create users.

I don't necessarily trust them either, but it seemed the fastest way to program a bulk range of extensions, users and names.

First export the entire configuration. Open it in Excel. Delete everything up to "Extension_Info_Start", and everything after "User_Info_End"

Make your changes to your users and extension numbers, and re-save as a csv file

Open the file in Notepad, and delete the commas after "Extension_Info_Start" (up to "EX_ID" on the next line), all the commas after "Extension_Info_End" (up to "User_Info_Start" on the next line), all the commas after "User_Info_Start" (up to "US_Name" on the next line), and all the commas after "User_Info_End" to the end.

Then import the file, and your users and extension numbers will be changed.

but you would need to create them first in manager, so you may as well put the names in at the same time!!!!

Thanks for the help. Appreciate the tips.

When the system loads the cards, it creates the extensions automatically. Not having to retype the names, make typos etc is a big help. Many other systems I work on have good import/export features, being able to do that is important. Thanks again.

if you export just the users you will see what format the CSV file needs to be in, unfortunately the list time I tried this a lot of user settings & information is not included so there is still a lot of clean-up work required.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Creating the users manually gives you more knowledge of the system and it is easier to maintain.
