IPO v1

Hi all,

I have only ever installed IPOv2 since Rel 6. I have a new client that has inherited an IPOv1. What are the main differences between v1 and v2? Can I upgrade it to Rel 9?

If the LAN and WAN addresses and the password have been changed, is there a way to factory default the system?

The 500v1 can go to R9, but you will need at the minimum an upgrade license.
The power supply on the 500v1 do not last long, I would upgrade to 500v2, and transfer the licenses to SD card. This will save You future headaches with the new client, especially with all the unknowns.
The 500v2 has a better power supply, and can use Combo cards. the 500v1 hasn't been manufactured for a few years, these are getting old, most common failure is power supply.
The IP500 and IP500 V2 control units have a Reset button.
Push the reset button & Hold

[li]5 to 10 seconds. CPU LED turns Orange, Reboots when free with new incoming/outgoing call
barring. A reboot using the reset button is recorded inthe Audit Trail.[/li]

[li]10 to 30 seconds. Flashing orange CPU LED, Erases the configuration, alarm log and audit trail.
Immediate reboot without waiting for active calls to end.[/li]

[li]30 to 40 seconds. CPU LED turns Red, Erases configuration, alarm log and core software.[/li]
[/ul]
Since they inherited the 500v1, you will have to program from scratch anyway if they want to go that route.

Why make it default?
The customer should request the logins of the system or let the former maintainer default them.
If they don't then use a serial cable and connect to the IPO.
Then type: AT_SECURITYRESETALL
type the mac address (shown on screen) and these credentials are default without defaulting the IPO.

500 v1's also cannot run in Basic or Partner mode, and cannot use TCM (Nortel) phones. A feature key card is used for licensing, and they use a CompactFlash card for Embedded Voicemail (same as the 406 control units).

The good points are.. faster bootup time (at least with R4 and R5..I never tested with higher versions) and MUCH faster shutdown (you just pull the plug! No having to wait forever for the SD-card to shut down).

Nothing wrong with a V1,but they won't be supported for ever.

Faster shutdown?? Shutdown off all models of IPO is pull the plug!!

Power supplies don't last long?? Go tell some of our customers that have had the same v1 for 6+ years. (There were some issues with the early ones though)

Some cards aren't supported so sone phones won't work on them. Just double check what you se them in future if you gave dealt with them before. Apart from that, you should be all good.

A factory default is really drastic and not needed. Get the passwords from the old company or get them defaulted either by them or on site. Hiw would you deal with taking over a v2????

It will not be supported from release 9.1 but if a cust is happy with the current system and it does it's job well then leave it as it is.
