New to the group, I have a IPO 500 v1 system with feature key 700417488 (A-LAW) - how can I determine the highest release level I can load on the IPO500 system without having to purchase upgrade. Thanks in anticipation.

connect to the system via IP using Manager and go to the upgrade option. It will show you two levels, the one the system is currently at and the one it is licenced to be at without purchasing an upgrade licence.

thanks for feedback - I have 2 cards - both work in a 5.0 system, nothing is visible in the license section on manager. would like to update the system. Would I have to acquire and install each level (6.0/7.0/8.0) of manager to see which will update without needing a upgrade license.

If you use manager upgrade(file>advanced>upgrade system password is password) it will show version your system can be upgraded too (although it is somewhat crpytic it doesn't just say 9.1, at least not on the older versions). Since you have no licenses, I would not suggest going above R7 unless you are OK buying an essential edition license. Basic is garbage and should be avoided at all costs. The cards will upgrade to whatever version you have on the control unit and if they work on R5 they should be fine on R7.

From the 6.1 release notes...

When upgrading to Release 6.1 from a previous release an upgrade licence is required.
It is recommended that the IP Office Release 6.1 Software Upgrade license is installed
before upgrading the system.

6.0 was a short run version that sucked. Couldn't find the release notes, but I pretty sure it needed an upgrade license.
With that said, I think you are at your top end right now.

Thanks Guys, sounds like I can't go any higher than 5.0 - can't get into the avaya site to download 7.0 to try version as ID etc required. Cheers John
