I'm new to IP Office but I'm about to purchase an IP Office package that is running IP Office Quick version R7. The sales person said I could upgrade to R8 for free by downloading the software from Avaya. Everything I have read tells me R8 is not a free upgrade. My question is, is it free? I not how much will it cost me to upgrade to R8?

Thanks!

If the system is younger than 90 days and you want to keep it on Quick/Basic (muppet) mode then yes it's free, if the system was first powered up longer than 90 days ago or you want to use it as an actual IP Office then no it's not free :)

If the "sales person" is a) making you research this on your own and b) not offering to upgrade the brand new system you are about to purchase for free then you should probably find someone who cares as much about you as a customer as they do about your money.

You would also be better to stay on V7.0 & switch to ip office mode (No Charge) rather than use V8.0 in Muppet mode
if you want/need V8.0 then get the disable Muppet mode license.

Both stop working when you open Windows

I'm going with the package that has 9508 digital phones but I also want to run a few IP phones. The system will have a Combo Card with 10 VCM channels. Will IP office mode Release 7 allow me to run both digital and VoIP phones?

Thanks!

IP Office release 1 would do that as well but to answer your question...yes.

Ahh good catch! Yes as Andy said, the combo card doesn't include any Avaya IP Endpoint licenses like the VCM32/64 do so you'll have to buy one for each IP phone.
