There is issue happened at our remote office recently and confuse me: one of IPOffice 500 v2 at remote office was lost connection, the main office can't call remote site and also remote site can't connect main office but remote office is able to make call to local office. while issue happened, I tried to use manager to login that unit but failed. I also tried to ping that unit and I got respond.so I asked my co-worker who working at remote office to shutdown that unit by unplugged power cord. after shut it down I'm still able to ping that IP address of unit, no matter ping from main office or remote office. when power is back to unit, the communication is coming back between main and remote office. the unit was working fine in rest of time yesterday but same thing happened again this morning and I guess it may happen for tomorrow and following day. any tips or suggestion? thanks in advanced.

after shut it down I'm still able to ping that IP address of unit

Are you saying that while the IP Office was powered down you were able to ping the IP address and get replies? If so, something else has the same IP address on the network and the conflict is preventing you from communicating with it.

If I misread your statement, sorry, never mind.

If the extent of your troubleshooting is pinging things then I think you may need some help, such issues are often complex. But as a clue 99.9% are due to the network/equipment that it comprises of :)

this kind of issue is 1st time happen to that unit. around 11:00 am yesterday we were not able to call that remote office. the IP of unit is static IP and all other devices has been excluded in the range. how could the unit rebooting can solve this issue temporary? it is possible that LAN card on the IP500 got problem?

if you can in fact ping the IP address when the system is shut down, then there is something else on the network; regardless of DHCP exceptions a statically set device could have been plugged in. shut it down and run a wireshark to figure out what it is.
if that is not it (and like tommy I misread your initial post) then a reboot providing temporary relief could point to network congestion.
also check system resource usage on the SD card through system status.

It almost sounds like a VPN router issue. Maybe the router stops forwarding the traffic for some reason but then lets it through again after the SCN trunk is re-established.

Does anyone know the a kind of MAC address tracking tool so I'll find what exact equipment took the IP of Avaya 500?

When it goes off pull the IPO LAN cable, ping the IPO address and if it responds look at your ARP table, it's as easy as that.
But that will just tell you the manufacturer of the LAN card, good luck tracking it down from that, you could then/also use a network scanner like Soft Perfect's and that will show the pc name etc if assigned :)

What do you mean by MAC Address tracking tool?

A network switch by definition is a MAC Address Tracking tool in a way. At layer 2 your switch is using a MAC Address Table.

You can look at the port in the MAC Address table that your IPO is plugged into and that will be the MAC Address of your IPO. Or if you know your IPO MAC Address you can search your MAC Address Table and find out into which port your IPO is patched.

You can then look at your ARP Table in the Network Router (should be default gateway for IPO) and find the IP to MAC Conversion and look for any conflicts.

You can Google the first three octets of your mac address and figure out who manufacturer of the part is.

Not sure if this helps since I don't quite understand the question.
