Hi everyone!

I have one problem with installation and it?s quite urgent to me to solve this, so if anybody can help me I wold be appreciated.

I need to connect two locations with IPO500 on Central Office, and the old IP401 Compact Office on Branch Office.
I have static-public ip-address on both locations with high bandwith (No NAT)
I have all the licences required for SCN, H323,IPSEC (IPO LIC IP500 VCE NTWK START4 LIC:DS, IPO LIC IP400 IPSEC VPN RFA LIC:DS).

Can you please help me about this because I do it according to documentation and anything I do, not work?

Can I do it with IP Trunks on A and B site, or I must create a L2TP or IPSEC tunnel on A and B site?

Is it possible that the only reason for not functioning, is the differences in software?

Please help me.

Have a look here, the manual is a bit old but it should work.

The firmware may only be 1 mayor release different.

So 5.X <-> 4.X (SOE can only go to 4.2.20)is ok but 3.X will not work or supported by AVAYA.

My neighbour still wears shorts until it is snowing hard or he goes ice fishing. That's nuts but he comes from the north where they have already 1m of snow and are on minus 20
I am going to bed soon like old men should and I wish you a good night bas.

Thank you very much!

But I have to make L2TP/IPSec tunnel between two IP office?
Is this should not work without it?

I thought, since I have static-public IP addresses on both sides, that I don`t need to do L2TP/IPSec VPN.

I will try it tomorow.

You better use routers to connect those systems
Also be sure you have a good dedicated connection

It won't work whitout a VPN, you can use the VPN connection in the IPO itself. But its always better to use a good vpn/router.

If you use the supported VPN routers by AVAYA then you can also use them for RemoteIPPhones.

I know it will work with the router`s, but I want to use only IPOffice`s if it`s possible.?

Connection and Bandwidth is quite high, so that`s no problem.
SIP is not the option because IP401 does not support SIP.

Check if the 401 Office Compact has a VCM5 in it.

Other option:
You could add Sip extension on the on one of the IP500 and then add a FXO on the Branche Office. Plug the trunks into the FXO and route the Incomming/Outgoing calls from/to the branche office.

If you have a VPN router on the main site then you also could use a Remote VPN phone (5610/5621)

For fax machine you can then use a normal ATA, the IP500 will support T.38.

Yes, I have VCM5 built-in.

This is not a problem if I put router, but the user does not want to put router, because he says that Avaya and IPO supports trunking site to site without routers between.

That`s why they took the static-public ip addresses between sites.

If can not be done then it`s ok.
I will explain that to customer.

You need licenses to use the ipsec connnection
Only the l2tp is free
Better use routers and a dedicated line
Otherwise the product is bad while the customer wants to be cheap !

I have all the licence required.

I can not believe that two IPOffice`s can not connect over the internet if I have all the licence required and dedicated line with public ip address on both sides.

All those connectivity options that are mentioned in the documentation is not worth anything without the help of the router? [thumbsup2]

So still nothing without the routers... :)

You can use ipsec but we all do not recommend it.
It is a feature that is already years old and router can do the job better.
