Hi all,

I'm using IP Softphone 5.2 with the latest SP. I'm also using cisco vpn client 4.6.

The problem I have it as follows:
1. I make a connection with the VPN Client to my office.
2. I startup IP Softphone...... so far so good.
3. When I'm logged in I call a number.
4. For a few second the other party can hear me, then after a few seconds they can't hear me any more. While I can hear them loud and clear.

With QoS on or of on my NIC and VPN no change.

Can someone help me with this problem...

What is the Codec being used? Dial Up, Cable / DSL, or LAN?

I have found "LAN" to be perectly suitable for a Cable / DSL connection. If set up properly in the switch, "LAN" is G.711.

Also, are you calling another IP phone?
Do you have Packet Scheduler installed?

On the local LAN I have no problems, but when I want to connect from my house or a friend or in this case Spain I use "Cable / DSL / ISDN".

The switch is configured properly because with the same setup it works on the local LAN. When I try lan from my current location it says "not enough bandwith". The strange part is that I have about 10-20 sec that it works correctly after that it all goes wrong.

I'm not calling another IP Phone, just using the trunk to dail out. I have no Packet Sceduler installed.

I have encountered this problem in the past. Personel visiting Spain and using cisco VPN 4.6 all experienced one way audio issues. The resolve was to remove VPN 4.6 and install an older version like 4.0

Does someone have Cisco VPN Client 4.03 or 4.05?

I don't have it with me and I want to try it from Spain.

Hope someone can help me out.

We had a problem similar to this using an IP softphone through VPN. Our data security folks would allow the machines with IP softphone to talk to the VLAN with the CLAN and MedPro cards on it. So we had no problems when calling digital sets, or calls that were trunked. However, calling another IP phone would create one-way audio. This was related to the call being shuffled off of the subnet with the medpro to the subnet of the IP phone, which we didn't have permission to talk to. Data security changed the access permissions, and the issue cleared.

Since you say that it works, then goes away, it could be this shuffling, although I thought the call would usually shuffle much faster than a few seconds.
