Hi

I am a complete Newbie to this so apologies if i sound daft

Running a definifty G3R11SI , and I have downloaded and installed the latest softphone software (version 5.2.2.20)

installed the software and setup an IP softphone on the switch

I can connect to the switch, but when I try to make a call (internal or external) I get the following error

Your call cannot be completed at this time, this may be due to network congestion or insufficient bandwidth, try again in a few minutes or select a different bandwidth setting

I have tried all 3 settings but get the same

another point I do not have a headset connected (just want to see if I can get this to work before I get one)

Any ideas where i could be going wrong?

Since we are starting out with the basics, do you have a TN2302 Media Proccessor in your PBX?

Statements expressed in this post are my own opinions and should not be considered as the opinion of my employer.

No

That would be why I imagine, thought the C-LAN card would be enough

said I was a newbie at it

Without the medpro you can only use softphone in telecommuter mode. The clan provides signaling and the call will take traditional route.

If you want to do roadwarrior (VOIP) you need a medpro.
