IP softphone and VPN

Hello all ,Having problems connecting ip-softphone though firewall via vpn . I am using secure remote client and I can ping the pbx but when I go log in the phone it seems to be there and then "logged off by server" .Any help would be great

You need a softphone client which allows you to specify a local IP. You also need a VPN client which displays your local VPN IP when connecting. Everytime a user connects, they'll need to put in their current dynamic VPN local address when they launch the softphone app. -CL
 
Well it seems we have tried that by puting the IP assighed by the fire wall into the advanced setting on the ip phone
 
I will give a try in a bit I though I would that I can connect to ASA via VPN no problem from home
 
Ok I was able to ping from the pbx to the ip of the vpn client it did ask me from what board so I did from Clan and Medpro all good
 
And this does work fine from on-site correct? Just wondering about RTU's, etc. -CL
 
yes it works fine from on site no trouble at all
 
Got a firewall blocking your H323?
also mind that IP port 1720 and 1719 are not blocked.
The connection is set up via the C-LAN,the actual call gets handled by you medpro board.
what usually happens is that the call-setup works , but the voice does not work correctly through a VPN, especially when using NAT.
depending on the call-timeout the client will return the "logged off by server" message.

If anyone else is having problems with VPN and IP Softphone email me. If you are using Cisco, Checkpoint or Avaya/VPNet VPN's it will work it just is matter of getting the proper configuration. Thank you,
