This may be a dumb question, but here is the situation:

I have a 54Mbs wireless network and a 100Mbs wired network in the same office. I have laptops with wireless cards and docking stations. When the laptops are docked, the wireless connection is still available.

Here's the question:
What determines the route data takes across the network? Is the data going across the wire (via docking station) or through the air (via wireless card) or both? How can I identify the route?

Anyone, anyone?

You could use ROUTE PRINT to find out what your default gateway is. This should show you what interface the laptop uses to send traffic through.

easier still, if the laptops have link and activity lights on the network socket, see if they blink when doing something over the network ;)
