This is my first attempt at setting up SCN and I am having some trouble. I am pretty sure I have a problem with my IP routes, but I'm not sure what the correct settings would be. Here is the scenario. Two sites connected via point to point T1. Paradyne CSU/DSU at each end connected to IPO WAN port. WAN services have been configured along with VOIP lines and appropriate short codes for call routing.

Site A - IPO 406 3.0(59)
IPO IP: 192.168.42.201
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Site B - IPO 406 3.0(59)
IPO IP: 192.168.43.203
Subnet:255.255.255.0

I have tried various things in my IP route forms with no success. I'm sure it's simple, but since I'm far from a network expert I can't figure it out. Looks like I should have keep reading that CCNA certification book. Thanks in advance for any help.

Forgot to mention one other thing. The IP Offices are not attached to the company's existing data network. There are no other routers or firewalls in the mix. Just two IPO's, two CSU/DSU's, and one dedicated T1 between the two.

Do you have a Ras Service for the Wan connection?
Has the Wan port been configured to use this service?

I believ I have example configs of this settup on my FTP server which is unfortunatly off line at present.

It should be back on line 13/01/06

Thanks for you response IPGuru. I was actually able to do a little digging to better understand IP Routes. It was pretty simple as I had expected. I added two IP route entries at each site.

Site A:
IP Address: 192.168.43.0
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: (blank)
Destination: VOIP Service A (the WAN service which I created)
&
Ip Address: (blank)
Subnet: (blank)
Gateway: (blank)
Destination: VOIP Service A

Site B:
IP Address: 192.168.42.0
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: (blank)
Destination: VOIP Service B
&
IP Address: (blank)
Subnet: (blank)
Gateway: (blank)
Destination: VOIP Service B

Worked like a charm.

Thanks again!

IP Guru,

I would like to see your sample config for this. When will your FTP link be up?

Thanks
Brian

I've got SCN working. Similar setup to you, but via the company-wide WAN.

Setup an IP route on each IPO. Make sure you include the gateway IP, so that the IPO knows where to send the traffic.

Add an IP line. Set the gateway IP to the other IPO's IP address. Make sure that "voice networking" is checked.

You have to have a VCM fitted for IP (in case you don't have this). Which seems mad, to me. It's designed to be an IP telephony solution and yet you must buy this separately. :S
