the CLAN is for call control only, it TDM buss to IP UDP packets
So, the phone is "registered" to the CLAN, which controls/listens to requests from the IP phone, the IP phone also communicates with the MEDPRO/Media Processor via UDP packets for actuall VoIP audio. The IP phones can also be directed to connect to other IP phones directly, IP to IP, via UDP packets as well, so you don't always have a MEDPRO/Media Processor involved in every call.
