Hello

Objective is to upgrade from R9.0 to R11 and change the licenses to PLDS
Sites contain
Site 1: R9.0 IP office server on Dell R210 and IPO 500 V2 unit
Site 2: IPO 500 V2 unit

IPO server is also running contact recorder so this will need to move to media manager.

I have read IP Office Technical Bulletin no 221 and im trying to outline all the steps around the upgrade.

Some questions
1. Do i need to build a weblm server for the IPO Server license, as I will be moving to PLDS?
2. When upgrading the IPO server from 9 to 11 will the existing contact recorder migrate to media manager automatically?
3. What backups of the system would you recommend before upgrading eg vmpro, contact recorder? I already have a copy of the config from the IPO server and 2XIP500 V2 units.

Steps.
1. Check that the 2 X IP500 V2 control units identified above PCS 14
2. Using web manager transfer iso, start upgrade, monitor process of upgrade on web manager, complete post-upgrade, reboot.
3. How do i upgrade the IP500 V2? I will have a new SD card for both units. Can the unit be upgrade after the IPO server is via web manager? or do i need to replace the SD card and build them from new and import the config?

Appreciated any feedback and assistance with the steps.

Some partial answres from the top of my head (may not be 100$% accurate)

Questions
1 Weblm server - The IP o server acts as its own Weblm server.
2 I do not believe there is a migration path from contact recorder to media manager :-(
3 Export vM call flows, backup all custom recordings - - contact recorder - check docs for backup procedure, I am ure there must be one

Steps
1 you are already on v9.0 so IP500V2 MUST be PCS14 already :)
2 Is V9 direct to V11 supported? if so then yes
3) Yes, upgrade through Web Manager after upgrding server

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Thanks for the reply. Ill look further into the contact recorder to media manager.

I see i can update the ip500v2 from the web manager aswell but as they are running ADI licenses i need to update these to PLDS and will be provided 2 new SD cards. Seems the old SD cards will need to be sent back to Avaya.

Will i need to trash the 2 ip500v2 and build from scratch using the new SD cards and existing IP addresses then load the original config on them? Not sure what the corret steps are around this?

Surely the licence can be migrated to PLDS on the same SD card
(They certainly Can for stand alone IP500V2 systems)

I have just done 2 of these and both failed to load all the files correctly. This is a known issue with Avaya.
Per Avaya
You can either upgrade by following the Upgrade process of recreating the SD card, or you can delete the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\MemoryCards\Common\system\primary\WebMgmtEE\Version.json then go back into file embedded file management and upgrade system files again.

I just completed a 18 node SE upgrade from 9.1.6 to 11,0.4 SP1. Was told by Avaya that since I was going from ADI licensing to PLDS I would need to do 2 stage upgrades for both the Server edition as well as The IP500s. If I was already on PLDS licensing I could just go to the 11.0.4 SP1 on the IP500s but still needed 2 step upgrade on SE. I removed the ADI licenses 1st. Added the PLDS licenses they upgraded to 11.0.2 SP2 the up to 11.0.4 SP1. Went ok just took a long time. I did all of this through Web Manager.
