IP Office Server Ed. Upgrade question

I have 2 DL360's preloaded with 8.1 from Avaya. To bring them to 9.0.5 should I go thru the ignition process under 8.1 and upgrade from there. Or just boot off of a 9.0 disk and start from scratch?

So they are new? then download the version you want (i would go for 9.1 to be honest) and let the system boot from the DVD.
When that is done then run the ignition.
But be aware that you do need the correct server edition licenses.
If you already have 8.1 SE licenses then it will not work.
