We have a new install with an IP Office 500 V2 with 7.0.23 but we are using Zeacom voice mail. I need to have the Message button on the 9630 IP phones to transfer to Zeacom VM at extension 888. Would also like to be able to rout the same feature for the softphones.

I had a simliar issue with duvoice. They said it was a bug between their software and the avaya software and they had some things in the works, but nothing fixed yet. I bet its the same issue. I thought editing the *17 to point to a HG would fix it, but alas, it did not. We ended up just using a soft button with a vm collect. Kinda sucked, but whatever. These were 14xx sets though, your mileage may vary with the ip phones.

The message button does not invoke the *17 short code. That I've found there is no way to cause the physical message button to activate voicemail on a 3rd party voicemail system.

There seems to be a spot in the 46xxsettings file to set the number to dial for messages; SET MSGNUM 1234.
Though, it says it is ignored for 96xx station types...which is weird. Might give it a shot?

Avaya says it is the responsibility of the DevConnect partner and Zeacom (the DevConnect) says they don't have anything to do with programming the Avaya equipment. So while they point their fingers at each other my customer can't use the button. The 46XX file that I would think we need to manipulate states the variable for the button doesn't apply to the 9630 phones. When VM Pro is turned off pressing the button shows a message that the VM is not running. But turning VM Pro on (to be able to password protect the Conference Bridges) only confuses things for the user since when they press the button (that lights up when the have a Zeacom message) forces them to set up their VM Pro mailbox even though the VM is turned off for the user.

Do you have your vm type set as group, and have it pointing to the zeacom group (I assume that is how its setup...). If they are using zeacom, then vmpro shouldn't really be installed?

I've tried the msgnum option and it didn't work either.

Tried it on the 16xx sets?

We needed the VM Pro to set up an Auto Attendant menu to password protect the conference bridges. We have it turned off now due to the VM button on the 9630s and the softphones confusing people. I'll try the group setting in the morning.

The 46XX file reads,

## Voice Mail Telephone Number
## Specifies the telephone number to be dialed
## automatically when the telephone user presses the
## Messaging button. The specified number is used to
## connect to the user?s Voice Mail system.
##
## Note:
## This parameter setting is ignored for extensions
## configured as 96xx station types on the call server.
##
## SET MSGNUM 1234

Try untick "message button goes to visual voice" on the System>Voicemail

Yes just like Jamie says, put it on VMPro untick the "message goes toe vv" then put it back to group. You also need to change the 46xxsettings.txt with the right group number and no an extension number.

Unticking won't make the button rout to 888.

Did you change the 46xxsettings.txt and edit the SET MSGNUM 888 you also need to remove the ## infront and reboot the phones.

On site now, and can't interrupt service again till after hours tonight. I'm afraid the problem I'll have is the file even says, "## Note:
## This parameter setting is ignored for extensions
## configured as 96xx station types on the call server."

I'll try a few things tonight. I can't adjust the VM without a reboot. So I'll wait, and monitor the suggestions.
Thanks

Mine shows this.
Just change the file upload it then reboot an extension and see if that one works, if so do the rest tonight.

Will do, Thanks
I'll post the results. What do you suggest for the softphone's message button?
