I have a customer with a 9620L. We upgraded them to 9630 (pre-8.0.42). Currently using 1151C1 power supply on their 9620L. Went to plug in 9630 with same power supply and it is dead. Light comes on power block but as soon as the Cat5 plugs into the phone, the light goes off and it is dead. Documentation states 1151C1 should work. Do I need a D1 power supply? Am I missing something?

I guess it is a 9630G with a gigabit port.
When this is the case then you need a different power supply.
Gigabit need all 8 pins.
Take a look at the back and you will see a separate power plug option.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks, Tipeter. I also should have mentioned that I could get the phone connected in my own office WITH a POE switch. So i know its not the set.

Indeed, power is usually pushed over the brown pair and as Peter mentioned gig ports run on all 4 pairs/8 pins, hopefully you haven't hurt the port :)

Sorry, posted that before I saw your last response, perhaps the power brick is faulty/underperforming :)

POE works but the powerbrick won't because it uses a different pair.
Use a common POE brick and it will work.
I think the new SPPOE for the 96x1 will work too.

I thought they used the same pair Peter, shows what I know about power bicks :)
