IP Address

Hi, having 2 ip addresses in DC with 1 network card is ok

Suggestions are very much appreciated.

Are you handling out DHCP to both networks from the DC?

window 2k3 R2.. yes with DHCP and that is a DC..

What is the purpose of the 2 IP Addresses. Are both addresses int he same subnet?

Yes, same subnet. Because my supervisor configure that way. And ask him why but he told me that I can put how many IP I want. Any problem with that? or have 2IP address in 1NIC is none sense

Honestly, I've never done it that way and I'm trying to figure out the possible advantages. I'm not saying it will cause problems, but I like to keep domain controllers as clean and simple as possible.

Be very careful if using a second IP on a DC it could cause issues with domain browsing. Make sure that there is only one IP being referenced in DNS for this DC.

My supervisor is using 2 IP addresses in DNS and also in DHCP...
